Currently making her way around the country on a national tour in support of her debut album Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, Courtney Barnett has dropped a cute but unsettling animated video for album cut Dead Fox.
Directed and animated by Rory Kerr and Paul Ruttledge, the Dead Fox video features a fox who smokes and gets involved in some unfortunate incidents on the road, with animals taking bloody revenge on humans everywhere. What’s more, there’s an animated version of Barnett to cap it all off.
“We liked how politically loaded and conversational the lyrics are,” Kerr and Ruttledge say in a statement (via Pitchfork). “We wanted the animation to have a stylistic and organic look, hence most of the drawings were done on paper rather than digitally.
“To further compliment the lyrics, we thought it would be funny to have the animals in the video look as cynical as possible, as if they’d had enough with how humans are treating them.”
