Celebrated Australian troubadour Courtney Barnett has unveiled the haunting video for Kim’s Caravan, a cut from her debut studio album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit that will be released as a special Record Store Day 12″.

Barnett says Kim’s Caravan is her favourite song on the record and has described the track as “an apocalyptic tale of our world painted black with oil and soot, painted red with blood and greed.”

The powerful video was directed by Bec Kingma and filmed on Australia’s Philip Island. Explains Barnett, the song and clip draw on “the frustration and helplessness of the destruction of my environment and the litter of humans within it”. It’s set in a coastal Australian town, which turns dark and desolate as the clip progresses.

Kim’s Caravan will be released this Saturday, April 18th on Record Store Day as a 12″ with a B-side cover of John Cale’s Close Watch.
